Kedarnath, one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India, is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is part of the Char Dham Yatra. Here’s some important information regarding the openings and registration for visiting Kedarnath:
Opening Dates
The Kedarnath Temple generally opens in May 2nd 2025.
The temple usually closes in late October or early November, prior to the onset of winter.
Registration Process

Follow this online guide for Kedarnath Yatra Registration:
Step 1: Go to the UTDB registration portal and click on Register!
Step 2: Navigate to the “Kedarnath Yatra” section. Click on the “Registration” tab and choose “New Registration.”
Step 3: Fill in the necessary details, such as personal and contact information.
Step 4: Upload the required documents, including ID proof and a passport-size photo.
Step 5: Pay the registration fee, currently Rs. 150 per person (subject to change).
Step 6: After completing the registration, you will receive a confirmation email with your registration number.
Step 7: Print the confirmation email and bring it to the base camp (Rishikesh/Gaurikund).
Travel and AccommodationTravel options include trekking, helicopter services, and road transport from nearby towns like Gaurikund.
Accommodation options range from guesthouses to dharamshalas, but it is recommended to book in advance, especially during peak season.
